Veneer damage looks worse than it is. The board underneath is almost always sound; it’s a thin surface layer that has failed, and that layer can be re bonded, patched or replaced. Albion Restore Ltd provides professional veneer repair across London.

Original veneer first, patches second
Existing veneer already matches no new material ever will, quite. So wherever a lifted or bubbled area is still attached, we clean it out, introduce fresh adhesive and press it back down rather than cutting it out.
Only genuinely missing sections get patched. Those are cut from matched veneer and let in along the grain lines, not as a rectangle, so the edges of the patch follow the figure in the wood and disappear into it.
Matching species, figure and age
We work in oak, walnut, mahogany, ash, maple, teak and burr figures.
On older pieces the match is to aged colour, not raw new cut colour. New walnut veneer next to hundred year old walnut is obviously wrong until it’s toned that toning is where the time goes on a period repair, and where most DIY attempts come apart.
Veneer or laminate?
They’re repaired completely differently, so it’s worth checking.
Veneer is real wood a thin slice glued to a board. Grain runs continuously over the panel edge. Feels like timber.
Laminate is a printed sheet under a plastic wear layer. There’s usually a visible seam or dark line at the panel edge, and the pattern repeats along a long run.
